---|---|
Year joined: | 1984 |
Previous Bands: | In 1984, noticing a decline in the popularity of glockenspiel soloists, Jamie "JT" Thomson, changed musical paths and joined the Delta Police Pipe Band. Although the glockenspiel was his first love, JT quickly fell under the spell of the sonorous bagpipes. His children were frightened, the neighbours threatened to sue, but JT laboured on, practicing on his chanter until the wee hours, squinting to read his battered copy of Scots Guards - Standard Settings of Pipe Music by candlelight in the cold, dark garage. For the past 24 years, in between helping band members move, JT has seen many changes in the Delta Police Pipe Band, but his passion for the music, and the camraderie of the roster has kept him dedicated, and proud to be a part of it all. |
Career: | has had many remarkable opportunities in his work life, and his resume reads like a best-selling novel: Foreman at the ACME plastic spatula plant, Head Noodle Creator at the Noodle Creation Institute, PNE petting zoo Duck Herder, and Inuvik's first (and only) refrigerator salesman. JT currently works as a log scaler (one of few), and on Thursday evenings can be found calling out Bingo numbers at the local community centre. JT holds a PhD in absolutely nothing, but can carry on an intelliegent and informed conversation about any topic, anywhere, with anyone |
Favorite Pipe Band Moment: | JT has always been a hard-working member of the Pipe Band, and in 1998 was crowned Band Member of The Year. That honour that netted him not only a place in Delta Police Pipe Band history, but a lovely tiara and golden sash that he can often be found wearing about the house on lazy Sunday afternoons |
